WrestleMania 30 could easily be regarded as one of the most shocking and earth-shattering WrestleMania events of all-time. One of those key moments happened during the match between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, with Taker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak on the line.

Leading into WrestleMania 30, WWE and The Undertaker made it a traditional long-lasting storyline of a who’s who of wrestlers that challenged The Undertaker and were defeated. Some of those legends include Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Kane, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and CM Punk. At WrestleMania 30, “The Deadman” had his biggest and deadliest challenge, as he went face-to-face with one of his biggest rivals, Brock Lesnar.

The feud between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker dated back to 2002, when a young Brock Lesnar defeated Taker at No Mercy in a Hell in a Cell match. Lesnar came into WrestleMania 30 ready to devour and kill the legend of The Undertaker. The Deadman gave it everything he had, but was knocked for a loop and suffered a legitimate concussion at the hands of Brock Lesnar. During a Patreon Q&A session, The Undertaker spoke about his legendary feud and rivalry with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Taker mentioned that he and Austin never got the opportunity to wrestle each other at a WrestleMania. Taker felt that with Austin being so over during those days, had he and Austin locked-up at WrestleMania, perhaps his unbeaten streak would have ended over a decade earlier. He said:

“It’d have to be Stone Cold. That’s really one of the only guys I didn’t get to work with at Mania. That would have been huge. The streak may have gotten broken earlier, but still, it would have been nice to work with Steve at Mania.” (H/T:

The Undertaker continued, speaking about whether the WWE Universe would be upset if Austin beat the streak, as opposed to how things played out with Brock Lesnar. The Phenom feels that fans may have been 50-50 on the situation, looking at it from two perspectives. He said:

“Steve was over at a level… That was just a whole nother level that he was over at. It would probably be, just like anything else, half the people would love it, half the people would hate it. That’s how it is. Everybody has an opinion but that’s the guy that I would have liked to work with at Mania that I never got a chance to.”

Steve Austin beating the streak could have made for an interesting storyline between 2001 through 2003, as Austin was nearing the end of his career due to ongoing issues stemming from neck injuries.

Many fans, including Undertaker himself, have spoken out about Bray Wyatt, believing that had more planning and thought gone into the storyline, perhaps Wyatt would have been the perfect choice to end Taker’s streak.
