RTE legend Byran Dobson is set to appear on the Late Late Show for “one last interview”.
The veteran newsman confirmed this January that he’d retire later this year and will be on air for the final time on News at One on RTE Radio One this Friday May 3.
Dobson said he believed the time had come to step away from his current News at One role, as as an RTE staffer, he’d have to retire once he turned 65 in 2025 anyway.
After Dobson bids farewell for the last time tomorrow at 1.45pm, he will be heading to the Late Late Show studio to catch up with Patrick Kielty.
RTE shared a video of Patrick inviting Bryan on the hit chat show over on Instagram today.
The Down native walked into the RTE news room and said: “And finally on today’s bulletin.”

The 64-year-old stood up and shook Patrick’s hand saying: “Welcome to my humble abode sir.”
Patrick remarked: “You have been sitting in this chair talking to the most important people in the country for a very long time.”
Bryan replied: “I’m not sure about that but anyway… too long.”
Patrick requested a final farewell interview saying: “I know that in your mind’s eye, you just wanted to slip off, put the sails up and head off into the sunset quietly.

“But we have one request. And that is, would you do one last interview? Me interviewing you on the Late Late Show this week.”
The popular presenter jokingly replied: “I’m not sure you know, Friday is bath night. But Patrick I’ll make an exception.”
Patrick laughed and said: “Okay. I think I’ve suddenly seen how this interview is going to go!”
Speaking to the camera, he added: “Join me and Bryan in the bath on this week’s Late Late Show on Friday at 9.35pm. “It’s a deal!”
RTE captioned the post: “It’s the end of an era!”
Dobson’s emotional fans all praised him in the comment section.
One follower wrote: “Not able. We’ll miss you Dobbo.”
Ali commented: “A true gentleman.”
Aideen said: “A true gentleman, we will miss you.”
Kate added: “Looking forward to that!”
