The State already exceeds the threshold of 6% of Telefónica’s capital and is on the verge of having a director

The State Company of Industrial Participations (SEPI) has exceeded the threshold of 6% of the capital of Telephone, as communicated this Friday to the CNMV. This new increase in the share capital of said company brings the State closer to once again having, 25 years after its privatization, a advisor on your behalf in the operator, a ‘right’ that is achieved with 6.7% of the shareholding.

Public society thus takes a new step in the mandate given by the Council of Ministers on December 19 to reach a participation of up to 10% of the shares of the telecommunications operator.

“We hereby inform that in the course of the operation to acquire shares of the Telefónica company, which in execution of the agreement of the Council of Ministers of December 19, 2023, the SEPI is carrying out, this entity has exceeded the 24 April 2024 the threshold of 6% of the share capital of said company”, points out the statement sent to the CNMV.

The above information has also been provided to the Securities And Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States in compliance with the regulations in force in said country, just as it did days ago when it notified that there had exceeded 5% of the teleco’s capital after a disbursement of 1,134 million euros.

“This information is communicated through this document on a voluntary basis in order to avoid asymmetry in the information to be disseminated regarding Telefónica in accordance with the regulations applicable in other jurisdictions and that resulting from Spanish regulations,” adds the SEPI.
