The ‘family-friendly’ resort town with miles of beaches, crystal clear water, €3 pints & €32 Ryanair flights from Dublin

IF you’re looking for a great sunshine holiday destination this year then this is the spot for you.

Spanish town Blanes located in Costa Brava is already hitting 25C heat and temperatures are set to soar to the late 20s as we move further into the summer.

To get to Blanes from Dublin Airport there are a few options.

The closest airport to the town is Girona and Ryanair flights start from as little as €31.99.

From there it is a 40 minute drive to the costal down and buses can be got from outside the airport.

You can also fly into Barcelona‘s Prat airport starting from €44.99 and get a direct train from the airport to Blanes.

The drive from Barcelona is only 58 minutes.

Blanes is a beautiful town where you will be spoilt for choice throughout your holiday.

The 4 kilometers of wide, golden-sanded beaches have Blue Flag water meaning there is high environmental quality water great for swimming.

One must do activity along the coast is the Clear Kayak excursion.

Jardí Botànic Marimurtra is another must see location on your trip.

The tickets are only €8 and to explore the gardens will usually take between two and three hours.

The gardens have a beautiful dome building look out space over the cliffs and sea.

The area is so beautiful wedding ceremonies are regularly hosted in the gardens.

Castillo de San Juan is a popular tourist attraction.

The 11th century pirate look out is a beautiful architectural piece which is especially beautiful at sunset.

If you book your trip from July 23 through July 27 you’ll catch the 52nd anniversary of the Blanes Firework Competition.

Food and Drink

The price of alcohol in Blanes is significantly cheaper than Ireland.

A pint of beer will only set you back about €3 while a bottle of wine is usually around €5.

Eating out won’t break the bank either with an average meal in a restaurant coming in at about €12.

Restaurant El Sorrall is a beautiful sea front restaurant with a range of authentic Spanish dishes to choose from.

Raco Sa Palomera is another visitor favourite in the area serving Mediteranian and Spanish cuisine.
