‘GMA’ Weatherman Rob Marciano’s Firing Sparked By “Heated Screaming Match” With Producer: Report

More details surrounding Rob Marciano‘s firing from Good Morning America have come to light. Two sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast that the weatherman was axed from his gig after he allegedly got into a “heated screaming match” with one of the show’s producers.

According to the insiders, the network’s chief meteorologist Ginger Zee overheard what allegedly happened between Marciano and the producer and decided to report the incident to higher-ups.

Since this wasn’t the first time complaints had been made about Marciano’s behavior, The Daily Beast reports that this was “the last straw” for network execs, who officially fired him on Tuesday (April 30).

Moreover, sources told the New York Post that there had been tension between Marciano and Zee ever since he joined ABC News in 2014. While Marciano was known to have a “hot temper” that caused problems for GMA, Zee could be, at times, just as “nasty,” their reporting alleges.

“I think she brought out the worst in him. I’m not giving him a pass,” a source told the Post. “It’s sad because they are two people who are really into the science of the weather. Unfortunately, their personalities didn’t work.”

Decider has reached out to reps for Marciano for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

This isn’t the first time Marciano has found himself in hot water at work. He was temporarily “banned” from the GMA studio last year after his co-workers complained about his behavior. “He was found to have done something … that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return,” one source told Page Six in March 2023.

Another insider claimed he was dealing with “anger management issues” amid his divorce, alleging that he “made people feel uncomfortable” through “a number of alarming events.”

“There were times when [Marciano] was very cranky and angry … unsavory behavior on his part. He was pulled off to deal with it and he’s been back,” they said at the time.

Despite the drama, Marciano celebrated 10 years at ABC News in a September 2023 Instagram post.

“I couldn’t be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you,” he wrote. “I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid, and my children are equally psyched that I will now be home most weekends! I’ll continue doing what I’m doing, contributing across all ABC shows and platforms Mon-Fri, while getting more quality time with my kiddos on the weekends.”
