Jessica was at a different function, during which she stumbled upon and cardboard cut-out of her husband.

She posed for photos with it, captioning the pics by saying: “Date night”, with Finlay Bealham commenting that he had “one of those too.”

The Connacht and Ireland international is close pals with O’Mahony on and off the pitch.

This fact has been the source of playful jibes from Jessica O’Mahony, including in February when, alongside a photo of her and her hubby, she said: “Besties (sorry @finlaybealham)”

In response, the 32-year-old took the dig in his stride, posting a broken heart followed by a laughing emoji.

As mentioned, Peter O’Mahony and Munster are in South Africa ahead of their clash with the Lions on Saturday.

Graham Rowntree’s men go into the game in fine form, having beaten the Bulls in Cape Town last weekend.

Their experienced talisman is also in fine fettle, having penned a new contract with the province a week before the win over the Bulls.

The Ireland captain was subject to rumours that he could make a move to the Top14 in France as contract negotiations dragged on.

And reacting to the news on Instagram, his wife Jessica seemed to hint that a move to France may have been on the cards at some point.

She said: “Ireland beats the South of France anyway.

“So pleased for Pete”

The new one-year deal also cements his commitment to Andy Farrell’s team, having teased retirement after the Six Nations.

However, while he will remain in a green jersey, Ireland forwards coach Paul O’Connell warned that he faces a fight to keep his place in the XV.

He told the Irish Examiner: “I think it’s great for us, as well. He’s one of those guys, like Johnny Sexton before him, he’s seen the pictures a lot so he makes very good decisions.

“It’s funny, it’s a really competitive position now, number six.

“Obviously Ryan Baird has established him with Leinster over the last few months.

“Tom Ahern down in Munster has done a good job as well. Cian Prendergast up in Connacht has been doing well and you have Nick Timoney who can play there up in Ulster.

“So it’s actually a really competitive position.

“It’s fantastic he’s signed on for another year and he’s going to face some stiff competition from some of the guys that are coming through now.”
