Colby Covington Denies Ian Garry Fight Offer

The UFC Star Previously Made Some Demands From Garry

Speaking on The Rush podcast, Covington stated, “UFC, Hunter [Campbell], Dana [White], they haven’t talked to me about this fight. This fight has not been presented. He’s just lying. He’s just trying to get clickbait and get people to talk about him.”

Covington’s response to Garry’s initial callout included a series of demands, suggesting that Garry must demonstrate seriousness about the fight. Among Covington’s requirements were turning on the comments on their Instagram channels, a video of Garry’s wife begging for the fight, and featuring her in one of Covington’s sponsored gambling videos.

However, Covington’s demands seem unlikely to be met by Garry, indicating a stalemate in negotiations. Covington remains steadfast in his stance, emphasizing his preference for a fight with Leon Edwards to reclaim his status as a top contender in the welterweight division.

“I want to show the world that I am healthy, that I can beat anyone in the world. That I am the best welterweight on earth right now,” Covington asserted, reaffirming his focus on higher-ranked opponents.

Colby Covington Now Open To Belal Muhammad Fight

‘Chaos’ Previously Dismissed Him As A Worthy Contender

Covington focused on other potential opponents, including Belal Muhammad, whose name recently entered the discussion. “I have immense gratitude for this organization; they’ve truly transformed my life,” Covington expressed. “So, I’ll leave the decision to them. Perhaps this individual, ‘Baley’ Muhammad, who’s been quite vocal lately,”

Covington added, referring to Muhammad’s higher ranking. “If I defeat him, it catapults me back into title contention.” Despite previously dismissing the idea of facing Muhammad, Covington labeled him as a “preliminary fighter” before his unsuccessful title challenge last December.

Muhammad has persistently campaigned for a rematch with current champion Leon Edwards, although he wasn’t among the three opponents accepted by Edwards for UFC 300. However, Muhammad is anticipated to receive his chance at UFC 304 in Manchester, England. Despite Covington’s continued rejection of a potential matchup, Garry’s relentless pursuit and ridicule of Covington show no signs of abating. Whether this will eventually culminate in a cage confrontation remains uncertain.
