Andorra la VellaThe University Council of the University of Andorra (UdA) has elected Juli Minoves as rector of the University of Andorra (UdA) for a period of five years. The resolution of the call was carried out during the meeting held last Monday, April 29, in which Minoves’ candidacy was chosen. This Wednesday, Guillem Casal, the minister’s spokesperson, announced at the press conference after the council of ministers that the executive has approved the appointment.
The University Council is the highest multi-person authority of the University, and is made up of two representatives of the General Administration, two representatives of the teaching staff, two representatives of the students, one representative of the administrative and technical staff, one representative of the business sector and professional, and a representative of the entities that collaborate with the University, in addition to the rector.
The process of renewing the position began last November 22 with the publication of the bases for the call for a national and international competition to which five candidates presented themselves with their respective action programs. Once the deadline for submitting applications has ended (March 15) and the list of admitted people has been made public (March 22), the University Council meeting took place last Monday in which the call
The new rector of the UdA will begin the exercise of his functions after being formally appointed by the Government of Andorra, on May 23, 2024. Juli Minoves Triquell has a degree in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Friburg ( Switzerland), master’s degree in Political Science from Yale University (Connecticut, USA), and also a doctorate in Political Science from this prestigious university on the North American East Coast. Currently, he was professor of Political Science and director of the Institute of International Studies at the University of La Verne (California, USA). In the past he had developed an early diplomatic career (1993-2001) and had been a minister of the Government of Andorra, holding several ministerial portfolios (2001-2009).
