‘Figures and letters’ says goodbye to Álvaro Gamboa, the young champion who went viral for his quick mathematical calculations

The return of Ciphers and letters landed strongly on La 2 on January 15, but, without a doubt, it grew and took its success to the networks with the arrival of Alvaro Gamboa, 18-year-old champion who quickly went viral. However, this Thursday he had to say goodbye after being defeated by a new contestant.

The program began like any day, welcoming a new applicant. In this case it was Samuel who came to the contest with the intention of facing his more than established opponent.

He Mathematics student, son of two Mathematics teachers, arrived with an advantage in the last numerical test: 96 compared to 74 for Samuel. However, after failing, the 50 points of the test fell to the new participant, who rose to 124 and caused Álvaro Gamboa to leave.

Aitor Albizua congratulated the winner, but quickly noticed the loser because of the bond he and the audience had developed. “He has ousted you, Álvaro, after 14 programs. 8,300 euros accumulated. And I tell you with all my heart, I love saying this expression, but it is true: it has been a pleasure to meet you and see you compete in Ciphers and letters“declared the presenter.

“And I tell you this on behalf of the entire team. Congratulations on your work on the program. Thanks for coming“added the journalist and gave his regards to his family.

At only 18 years old, what you have achieved has been amazing, Alvaro. And enjoy what you have achieved,” he concluded. “Thank you very much to all of you,” the contestant responded before leaving.
