Now that Paul “Triple H” Levesque is steering the WWE in a new direction and changing much of the company, it seems right to take a look at the changes that have been made to the championships in the WWE. The announcement of a Women’s North American title down in NXT and the change that finally happened with the Tag Team belts, what better time than now?
9 Best Championship Designs In TNA Wrestling History
TNA has featured some amazing title designs that rank among the best in modern day wrestling!
There are 13 titles present in the WWE with the Women’s North American Championship arriving at some point in the future. Gathering general opinions from fan reception at events, social media, and in-person discussion, let’s break down what titles are the most beautiful on the roster and which could still use a revamp of some kind. Honorable mention goes to the NXT Heritage Cup, which is a beautiful prize, but doesn’t fit the same theme of a title belt.

If this was being written, say five years ago, then this would easily be in the higher tiers when it comes to WWE titles. What is holding this back is the fact that both the men’s and women’s championships introduced a multicolored plate to represent NXT 2.0, but the brand has seen a remodel and yet the titles remain the same.
Either going back to what they previously had or an entire redesign would be better than sticking with this bright eyesore of a title.
Fans Are Tired Of The Undisputed WWE Championship Design

Since Cody Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns at the top of the WWE mountain at WrestleMania 40, one of the big talking points has been how Rhodes looks with the title. Provided the current design is better than both versions of the Universal title, it is still far from the best looking championship in the company.
Cody himself sparked rumors that he wants to bring back the “Winged Eagle” design of the title, but that decision is not entirely up to him. The gold plate was a nice change, but fans are dying to see a new design entirely.
The White Strap Doesn’t Help The NXT Women’s North American Championship

As will be shown by the rest of this article, adding a white strap typically makes a belt look even a bit better. That somehow is not the case with the NXT Women’s North American title. Fans have pointed out that keeping the red motif on the side plates and globe doesn’t look as good as the men’s belt.
Opinion could sway when the belt is finally shown in-person and not through a design concept. Until then, improvements could be made to this championship.

Speaking of adding a white strap to a title and making it better. That’s what the NXT Women’s Championship does. Again, it suffers from the same fate as the men’s title and should get rid of the multicolored plate; but if it truly needs to stay, the Women’s belt is much better.
Same as the men’s, an improvement could easily be made by going back to what NXT had before the 2.0 redesign or if WWE wanted to revamp the brand once more, that could work.

It seems odd to say that the NXT Tag Team Championships are now officially the oldest design in the company. Every belt has either been created or remodeled since 2018 and this design of the NXT Tag belts has been around since early 2017.
10 Worst Wrestling Championship Designs In 2023, Ranked
While they’re not necessarily hideous, these wrestling titles have some of the worst designs today.
They didn’t even receive an update when NXT 2.0 happened, much like the other titles that came before them. To say it’s time for a change is an understatement and could be a good choice to fit the theme of this new era in the WWE.
The World Tag Team Championships Are A Decent Upgrade

It can not be stated enough that the decision to ditch the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships was the perfect choice to solidify this new era. Now, not every belt can be perfect and one person’s opinion on this belt will be massively different from the next. It is pretty much agreed upon that these are better than the old red strap design.
The World Tag Team Championship’s sister belts, on the other hand, has not received as much distain as these have and will be talked about a bit later.
The Intercontinental Championship Has Mixed Reviews
Design Introduced November 22nd, 2019

Number Of Reigns |

Number Of Champions |

This design is easily the most mixed out of any belt in the WWE. Standalone, with no prior knowledge of previous designs, this is a great belt and most fans seem to like it. When compared to the old belt that was around from 2011 to 2019, a lot of the fanbase thinks this is a massive downgrade.
Some fans have said adding color to it would make it a bit better, while others just beg for the title to go back to how it was.

This one could be a bit of a hot take as the World Heavyweight Championship does look pretty amazing and is better than just being a massive WWE logo on a leather strap, this belt still has some flaws. There is always going to be a portion of wrestling fans who complain that this belt isn’t the “Big Gold”.
One major problem with the belt has been pointed out, and that is that the belt is on the smaller side. This design works much better for the Women’s World title and could be near perfect if it was just sized up a tad more.

Despite the reputation these titles have and the lack of attention they receive on WWE television, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are some of the best looking titles. When they were introduced, the design was far different compared to what the other tag titles or even singles titles offered.
There isn’t much that can be done to improve this design. The only negative is the division itself. Having the belts play a more prominent role could do wonders and get more fans to love these titles.
The WWE Women’s Championship Looks Amazing With The White Strap

Again, it is hard to mess up a belt with a white strap. It has been said that WWE tends to just make a men’s title and give it a white strap for the women, but that isn’t always a bad choice. Champions like Bianca Belair (for the few minutes she held it), Iyo Sky, and Bayley have all looked amazing with this belt.
Additionally, the gold plate is a massive upgrade from the red and blue of the Raw and SmackDown Women’s titles that were around. This truly looks like a championship and not a toy.
The Women’s World Championship Has A Slight Advantage

Everything that was a negative in the World Heavyweight Championship doesn’t apply here. Having the belt smaller makes sense and, again, a white strap never hurts. The redesigns that both Women’s Championships received was a major glow-up.
10 Championship Belt Makeovers That Angered Wrestling Fans
Wrestling fans weren’t happy when great championship belt designs were replaced with much worse ones.
If anything, and this can be applied to the World Heavyweight title as well, there are some minor details most fans might not notice that could be accentuated, such as the lions on the sides, the crown at the top, or the gems surrounding the plates.
The United States Championship Doesn’t Look Cheap Anymore

There are still some fans who miss the old United States Championship, and while that opinion is valid, it is hard to say that it wasn’t in need of an upgrade. Besides a bit of added color over the years, that US title design was introduced in 2003 and stayed that way until this remodel in 2020.
That belt lasted longer than the spinner WWE title, the penny tag team belts, and more. Fans with actual artistic merits have tried to fix this design by making the text not so prominent, and even splashing some colors on the main plate, but with how it is, the title still looks pretty solid.
The WWE Tag Team Championships Finally Look Good Again

One more time, those old tag team titles needed to change. While the World Tag Team Championships have received some hate, these belts have become an overnight hit. Being based off the Attitude Era tag team design is a great choice and once again makes these belts look like a true prize.
They do have the same complaint in the color department as the Intercontinental Championship, as some fans don’t like seeing an all-gold and black belt, but that is the extent of it so far. Out of the new titles, this is far and away the best, but only one belt remains better looking.
The NXT North American Championship Has An Old Feel

That is the NXT North American title. The maroon/brownish strap makes this belt have an old-fashioned look and feels like a championship that Harley Race or Buddy Rogers would have been challenging for. There weren’t many complaints about this title when it was introduced and, even with its age, there hasn’t been a demand for this belt to be remodeled.
The NXT North American Championship is not only the absolute best of the best in current-day WWE, but it also could be placed among the greatest WWE titles of all time.
