AJ Styles might be enjoying a renewed push in WWE right now, but inside the ring, he’s scaling things back as the Phenomenal One has confirmed he’s retired one of his iconic moves.

AJ Styles Confirms He Has Retired A Move

Throughout the past two decades Styles has been one of the most impressive professional wrestlers on the planet, and a big reason for that is his varied move set. Styles has always brought a lot to the table when it comes to his style, blending strikes, technical wrestling, high-flying elements, and submissions together.

“He Cares About People” AJ Styles Praises Triple H’s WWE Leadership

AJ Styles has given his honest thoughts on what Triple H is like as a boss.

He’s got tons of incredible moves in his arsenal, and one of those is the Spiral Tap. That move sees Styles leap from the top rope before twisting his body several times in mid-air, ultimately landing back onto his opponent below. But even though it’s a jaw-dropping move that’s guaranteed to get a pop from the fans, Styles admitted to Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports that he’s retiring it.

“If you’ve ever heard, ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it,’ that’s 100% the case. It’s a very awkward way to flip and do stuff. I had put it on the back burner for so long, I just lost it. It’s in my head. I can’t pull it off the way…if I can’t pull it off the way that I want to do it, I don’t want to do it at all. If it’s not perfect…I haven’t attempted it on a trampoline, in a pool, nothing. It’s there for the Ospreays [Will Ospreay] and anybody else who wants to do it.” (h/t

It’s a move that some WWE fans might not be aware of though, as Styles admitted he thinks the last time he hit the move was back in TNA.

AJ Styles Is Coming Close To Retiring Himself

Styles retiring from the Spiral Tap is yet another example of the former WWE Champion taking one step closer to his own retirement. Even though he’s currently being pushed heavily since returning to the ring, he has been open about the fact he’s coming towards the end of his career as a competitive wrestler as he’s worried about embarrassing himself in the ring.

It’s unknown when he’s going to officially hang up his boots, but fans should enjoy Styles while they have him, no matter how many moves he retires. At WWE Backlash he proved that there’s still plenty in the tank if he wants to keep working, as he has no problem competing at the highest level.

While he was unsuccessful in winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Styles and Cody Rhodes put on a brilliant main event which saw the WWE Universe showering Styles with love via some incredible chants.
