Equality will distribute 190 million euros to the communities for family conciliation policies

The autonomous communities will receive 190 million euros to promote public policies that facilitate conciliation of families throughout 2024. The item approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Equalityis part of the Co-Responsible Plan, and must receive the approval of the counselors of the sector at the next Sectoral Equality Conference, scheduled for April 29.

The Co-Responsible Plan, approved in March 2021, is part of the European Care Strategy and, since then, it has served as a base policy to promote the creation of quality employment in the care sector and certify professional experience in non-formal care.

Specifically, it is developed in three axes of action: The first aims to facilitate the reconciliation of families with children up to 16 years of age with the implementation of personal care services. It also aims to create “quality employment” in the care sector for children up to 16 years old, also promoting a accreditation system of all the professional skills that are acquired through informal and non-professional experience.

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Cortes and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, speaks during the press conference after the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, this Tuesday in Moncloa.

The third axis aims raise awareness and train society in terms of co-responsibility and care, “especially for men”, as highlighted by the department of Ana Redondowhere they also remember that the objective is to “promote models of co-responsible and egalitarian masculinities.”

Thus, the programs that the communities will have to promote, together with Ceuta and Melillawill be related to the authorization of professional care services for children and adolescents up to 16 years of ageor to the establishment of agreements with the SEPE or other organizations to “promote the inclusion in the care pools of people with professional experience in the sector.”
