- WWE’s top faction, The Judgment Day, faces uncertainty with key members out due to injuries.
The Judgment Day is undergoing some major changes in WWE. WrestleMania 40 was a big event for them as Damian Priest became the World Heavyweight Champion and Rhea Ripley retained her Women’s World Championship. Things have since taken a real life turn for the worse, as Ripley had to vacate her title after suffering an injury on Raw at the hands of Liv Morgan. Then, Mami’s Dom Dom, Dominik Mysterio, was seen on Raw this week with his left arm in a sling. Fightful Select reported:
“…in what we’re told is a legitimate injury. We’ve not heard of a timetable for his return as of yet.”
We now have an update on Dominik Mysterio’s condition, as reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and it’s not good. According to Meltzer:
“Dominik Mysterio also had an elbow injury. It apparently happened in a 4/15 match with Andrade and was described to us as a freak accident. He will be undergoing Tommy John surgery on his elbow which for a baseball pitcher means at least nine months out. Since he doesn’t have to throw pitches hard, his recovery time would probably be a little shorter. As of right now, the plan would be to keep him as a television character while recovering. He was off the European tour and had his arm in a sling at Raw.”
10 Harsh Realities Fans Of The Judgment Day Need To Realize
Despite their popularity, The Judgment Day is far from perfect, and there are some harsh realities that WWE fans need to accept.
Has The Judgment Day Come To An End In WWE?
Dominik Mysterio’s injury is the latest injury to a big name star in WWE. Not only is Rhea Ripley out for several months with a shoulder injury, but CM Punk has been on the shelf since tearing his tricep at Royal Rumble, and Seth Rollins is taking more time off due to his knee issues.
The Judgment Day has long been Raw’s top faction, but just as The Bloodline is going through major changes on SmackDown, so is Monday night’s group. Even without the injuries, WWE was hinting at breaking up the group, as the infighting increased. With Rhea Ripley being the defacto leader, her absence has only increased their confusion. Now that Ripley and Mysterio can’t compete, does that mean we’ve seen the end of WWE’s top romance? The Judgment Day could keep going with Damian Priest, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh, but Raw has been showing Priest in a more positive light, pushing him toward being a top babyface. It’s probably best to end the group, or at least put them on hiatus, for now.
Dominik Mysterio has shown a huge progression in WWE the past few years, going from being a green and boring babyface, known only as the son of Rey Mysterio, to being the most over heel in all of professional wrestling. We wish him the best in his recovery and hope to see him back in the ring as soon as possible.
