ALISHA Weir says “being covered in blood was strangely fun” as she transformed into a vampire to star in her latest movie.
The young Irish star shot to fame after playing the lead role in the Netflix adaptation of the West End show, Matilda the Musical.

The 14-year-old looked worlds apart from her usual adorable self as she played a vampire in the horror movie, Abigail.
The story follows the ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure who is kidnapped by a group of criminals, who are unaware they’re locked inside an isolated mansion with no ordinary child.
Alisha joined a cast that included Melissa Barrera and Giancarlo Esposito.
The movie also stars the late Angus Cloud in one of his final roles before his death in July 2023.
The Dublin native told The Irish Sun what it was really like working behind the scenes of an R rated film saying: “It was different to anything I had done before so that was definitely strange at some times – being covered in blood everyday.
“But it was so exciting getting to be covered in blood and there were some shots as well and being covered in blood is strangely really fun.
“At the start, I wasn’t used to it but everyday I got more and more blood that I got so used to it and loved it.”
Fans may recognise her from when she performed True Colours on the Late Late Toy Show in 2017.

Just a few years later Alisha landed her first lead role in the mega movie, Matilda the Musical.
Alisha’s sister Katie shared a video of the moment the young star found out she landed the role of Matilda Wormwood.
In the clip, Alisha looks nervous while she is on a video call with someone who worked on the movie.
He tells her: “We really were so impressed with all the times the I met you – how sharp your mind is, how great your concentration is and what a good listener you are.
“All of these skills you’ve got as well as your terrific singing and everything.
“Anyway so we’d like to offer you the part of Matilda in the film.”
The 13-year-old looked shocked as jumped up and down and said: “No way. Thank you.”
Her family around her gave her hugs and she started to cry.
