This new treatment must be prescribed by a health professional and will be dispensed in pharmacies as a complement to a low-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Wegovy/The drug has a mechanism of action that acts on the GLP-1 hormone receptor, which is very important for the regulation of appetite, the feeling of satiety and calorie intake. Obesity affects 21% of the Spanish adult population and almost 12% of the adolescent populationand increases the risk of developing serious pathologies such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, depression and even some types of cancer.
