56% of Spaniards believe that Sánchez will announce this Monday that he is still president, according to a PP survey

56.4% of Spaniards believe that the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezwill announce this Monday that will continue to lead the Executive, according to a survey commissioned by the Popular Party and carried out by Sigma Dos. On the other hand, two in ten (21.2%) think that it will be subject to a question of trust.

For the rest of the respondents, to the same question, a 9.5% consider that they will present their resignation and will leave a minister as the next president of the Government; 5.2% believe that Sánchez will dissolve the Cortes and call new elections if he is not the candidate, and 3.7% believe that he will dissolve the Cortes and call new elections if he is the candidate. These are the results collected by the political perception survey carried out between April 25 and 26 with 1,527 interviews, after the social media post of a letter in which Sánchez announced that he was taking a few days to decide whether to continue leading the Government.

By political party, popular supporters (65.4%) are the ones who most believe that Sánchez will continue to lead the Executive, followed by those of Vox (58.3%) and those of Add (57.6%). In contrast, only 50.2% of the socialists consider that he will announce that will continue as president of the Government. Furthermore, one in four voters of the PSOE (24%) and Sumar (24.3%) in the last general elections affirm that the President of the Government will announce next Monday, April 29, that he will undergo this procedure in the Congress of the Deputies.

Thus, according to the PP, the majority of Spaniards They consider that the President of the Government will announce that he will continue to lead the Executive. Women (57.4%), people between 45 and 64 years of age (62%) and voters of the Popular Party (65.4%) are those who to a greater extent affirm that the President of the Government will remain at the head of the Executive. PSOE voters (50.2%) are the ones who most doubt Pedro Sánchez’s continuity as head of the Executive.

The survey indicates that there is a division among Spaniards when it comes to define the main reason which has led Sánchez to publish this letter. The majority, 54%, of Spanish society consider that the main reason is a political strategy to recover ground in the face of the Catalan and European elections, and 44.1% of those surveyed consider that the main reason is fatigue with the information provided.

It is also noted that one in two (50.1%) Spaniards consider that the information about the wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, Begoña Gómez“they are very serious” and that this must respond to justice and clarify the veracity of the information, compared to the 40% who believe that we are facing “a disinformation campaign that only seeks to damage the image of Pedro Sánchez.”

Popular sources have highlighted that the survey has been commissioned to “test the opinion of Spaniards regarding Pedro Sánchez’s maneuvers to not give explanations for the cases of corruption that affect his party, his Government and his family environment.” They also clarify that this study, “unlike the one commissioned by the CISthis paid with own fundsand not with the money of the Spanish people as a whole”.

Precisely next Monday, and coinciding with Sánchez’s appearance, the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) will publish the results of a quick survey of a day about Sánchez’s letter.

This Saturday, in addition, the Popular Party has “invited” citizens to respond to the letter sent by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, on Wednesday, also through letters, to convey the “real” problems those they face in their daily lives, under the campaign they have named ‘In Legitimate Correspondence’.
