Braun Strowman Almost Died Wrestling Bray Wyatt
Throughout his career, Strowman has been involved in a wide variety of stipulation matches, from the Elimination Chamber to Hell in a Cell. But it was a cinematic match where things weren’t taped live and where the Monster Of All Monsters pushed himself to his limits.
During COVID-19 WWE was testing different ideas to make the most of the situation, and that led to Strowman’s rivalry against Bray Wyatt heading out to the swamp for their match at WWE’s Extreme Rules in 2020. In a nod to their days in the Wyatt Family the two men battled in a unique location, including inside the swamp itself.
Braun Strowman’s Body Transformation Over The Years, Told In Photos
Braun Strowman is what many would consider a modern-day giant in wrestling and over the years, he’s worked very hard for the physique he has today.
Even though the encounter was certainly creative it did receive plenty of criticism which is something that the former Universal Champion addressed when speaking to “Insight with Chris Van Vliet.”
“You got your critics on the internet and people were bashing it and I’m like really? I mean that’s great, I get it, it’s your opinion you’re entitled to it, but like I almost killed myself to make this happen for y’all. So it’s kind of hard you know dealing with the critics at times when you’re sacrificing your health and well-being to put smiles on other people’s faces.” (h/t

Braun Strowman Details His Experience In The Swamp Match
The encounter was a memorable and positive experience for Strowman personally due to what Wyatt meant to him as a mentor. The match also suited the storyline that they were telling at the time.
While the match ended up being quite dark and difficult to see at points due to the time of day it was shot, it took a lot of work from everyone involved to bring it to life. The encounter pushed both men to their limits, and that’s something that ended up sending Strowman to the hospital.
“It took us like 32 hours of continuous work to film this in hot a** Florida and it put a toll on both of us. I ended up in the hospital after it, so I got home and I collapsed in my house with full-body cramps. I had to be pulled out of my house by the EMS and have double IVs hooked up, it took four liters of fluid to get my body to stop cramping.”
Strowman recently returned to in-ring action at the WWE Draft following a lengthy absence due to a neck injury, with fans now eagerly awaiting what is next for him.
