Finn Balor Hangs Out With Wayne Rooney Backstage
WWE recently toured around Europe, which proved to be incredibly successful for the company. They sold out shows in various locations, and while there were tons of WWE fans onboard attending the events, there were also a few celebrities in the house as well.
That included former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who sat front row alongside his family during one of the shows. Given his celebrity status, Rooney got the chance to go backstage and that led to him hanging out with The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor.
The former Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion took to social media to share a photograph of the popular sportsmen hanging out backstage which got plenty of fans talking. Although, Rooney never played for Balor’s particular team – Tottenham Hotspur, his legendary status obviously made it a big moment for a soccer fan like Balor.
Rooney was actually briefly involved in the show on the night. As he sat so close to the ring, Drew McIntyre took it upon himself to cut a promo on the former soccer star. The Scotsman also mocked Rooney on social media, keeping up his recent gimmick.
Wayne Rooney Has A History With WWE
This isn’t the first time that Rooney has been involved in a WWE show as he and his family are well-known fans of the product. While this was only a live event, the former England captain has appeared on WWE Raw before during a show that took place in England.
10 Wrestlers With A Soccer Background
Many wrestlers are athletes outside the ring, bringing that athletic experience to WWE & elsewhere. Some were dedicated to soccer before wrestling.
That night saw his fellow Englishman and current WWE SmackDown commentator Wade Barrett talk trash to Rooney in front of all the fans. The two men then ended up physically involved, with Rooney putting his hands on the ex-Intercontinental Champion which got a lot of fans talking at the time.
Rooney is evidently happy to get involved with the company whenever they come to town, which is something that the fans certainly appreciate. This time it was Balor’s opportunity for them to hang out, which is something that The Judgment Day star was happy about.
