Chad Gable turned heel on Monday night, but that might not be where the story ends. He could have support, which would lead to a new heel faction.
Highlights
- Gable turned heel on Raw, attacking Zayn and getting a singles push fans felt was long overdue.
- Social media hints suggest Gable is leading a new team, possibly with The Creed Brothers for support.
- The new group could be compared to Team Angle 2.0, with Gable taking on a big star role like Angle did.
Chad Gable seemingly turned heel on Monday night, attacking Sami Zayn after Gable lost his shot at the Intercontinental Championship in the main event on Raw. It was an incredible match and Gable came up just short in Montreal, where the fans were clearly behind Zayn. Gable snapped, suplexing Zayn in front of his wife and friends and then applying the ankle lock to close the show. Fans gave Gable the gears after the show went off the air, with a very audible “fu– you Gable” chant ringing through the arena.
Gable took to social media after the attack and noted, “Don’t kid yourselves. You would have done the same thing.” It’s not clear what this means for Alpha Academy, but it looks like Gable is getting a long overdue and well-deserved singles push. Akira Tozawa said he would follow his coach in a social media post, but he’s not the only person who has publicly hinted that they’ll be part of whatever is next for Gable.
On Raw, when Jackie Redmond interviewed Gable before his match with Zayn, Gable was training with The Creed Brothers in the ring. Julius Creed took to social media to publicly offers his support to Gable. He wrote, “Ready, Willing, And …” The tease here is that Gable and The Creed Brothers will be sticking together. Does Gable drop Otis, Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri? It’s difficult to imagine the rest of Alpha Academy being heels, but Dupri and Ivy Nile are a tag team. It would make sense that their allegiances stay aligned unless Nile splits from the Creed Brothers.
Is This Team Angle 2.0?
This new group has the makings of being an updated and improved version of Team Angle. There have been many comparisons between Angle’s look and style to Gable’s, some believing that Gable has a chance to be as big a star. The Creed Brothers would effectively be the new Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. They were a heel group that helped get the tag team over and Angle remained a top draw in WWE at the time.
Raw Winners And Losers: Ripley Vacates Title, Gable Snaps on Zayn
The Raw from Montreal saw some big news develop for the red brand as Ripley is no longer a champion and Gable is turning heel.
This may really help The Creed Brothers too. As gifted as they are athletically, it feels like they need that little something to get them to the next level.
