For some reason, rumors are floating around regarding The Rock this week and as it pertains to his professionalism both on the set of his Amazon film Red One and his dealings with WWE during WrestleMania week. Most of the rumors suggest he was rarely, if ever on time. Some reports suggest he was as much as seven or eight hours late.
After reports by Umberto Gonzalez of TheWrap alleged that The Rock was constantly 7-8 hours late to work on his new film ‘RED ONE’, which caused costs of around $50 million to the production, producers of the film and Amazon repos have refuted those reports. But, the public criticism of The Rock didn’t stop there. Further allegations suggested he was also often late for WrestleMania 40 events. As per the report, “two insiders” said “he was three hours late arriving ahead of his main event match at WrestleMania 40.”
Among the stranger reports, The Rock was reported to have peed into water bottles to save time, which has upset crew members.
WWE’s executive vice president for Talent Relations and Head of Communications, Chris Legentil (per Ian Carey of Wrestling Observer), has vehemently denied these reports. He noted:
“Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal — and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run.”
A rep for Amazon also denied the reports saying, “Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on Red One—a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season.” They added that they couldn’t have made the film without The Rock’s constant support and that “…any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven, eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”
How Does The Rock’s Contract With TKO Work?
When The Rock returned to WWE, it wasn’t just as a wrestler but as a member of TKO’s Board of Directors.
Hard To Imagine The Rock Being That Unprofessional
There was a report that The Rock was late for an appearance at WrestleMania World, but the company said it was due to traffic and other commitments.
The idea that The Rock would not only be consistently late up to 8 hours a day to make a movie seems incredibly illogical. It’s hard to fathom how other A-list actors like Chris Evans would have tolerated that or how the production would have completed the film. Not only that, but The Rock owns his own production company and if an actor tried to pull that on his company, it would be a huge problem he wouldn’t let slide.
He doesn’t get on the TKO Board if he disrespects everyone’s time, he isn’t one of the most successful actors in Hollywood with that kind of reputation, and he likely doesn’t care that little about other people’s time. There are some reports his busy schedule did mean he was sometimes late to set, but not to the degree in which reports suggest.
