WWE Feuds We Want After WrestleMania 40

WrestleMania 40 has been and gone, and the show ended up being one of the most notable nights in WWE history. The feuds at the show included Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre, Iyo Sky vs. Bayley, Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch, and several other intense and personal rivalries. WrestleMania closed the chapter on many of these, but it also began some new ones.

Who are the next NXT wrestlers looking to make Raw and SmackDown their permanent homes?

When looking ahead to WWE after WrestleMania 40, there are certain feuds that we want to see, whether that be dream rivalries that haven’t happened yet, or stories that are already unfolding on the product.

UPDATE: 2024/04/16 11:30 EST BY ANDREW KELLY

This list of feuds we want to see in 2024 was originally put forth prior to WrestleMania 40 taking place, but now that the show is officially in the books, all of the potential feuds and rivalries mentioned are all
still
feuds we want to see in WWE over the next year for sure. In fact, with how WrestleMania 40 went down, with stars being made, new stories being started, and a new era beginning for the company, there are even more feuds we want to see in the coming months on RAW and SmackDown across every division, and we will look at them here.

The New Bloodline Vs. The Old Bloodline Could Change The Landscape In WWE

Roman Reigns’ Absence Has Begun A New Era In More Ways Than One

  • Jey Uso wants to reunite with Jimmy Uso
  • Solo Sikoa has taken up leadership of The Bloodline
  • WWE can run back the “Bloodline Civil War”

On the SmackDown after WrestleMania, Solo Sikoa took issue with the losses suffered by The Bloodline, bringing Tama Tonga into the group, asserting authority over Paul Heyman, and removing Jimmy Uso from the faction. This will cause ruptions in the leadership at the top of the Bloodline, as it isn’t clear whether The Rock, Roman Reigns, or Solo Sikoa is in command.

Regardless of how this plays out in terms of who is at the top of the tree, a real “Bloodline Civil War” is something fans have a renewed interest in. After some time of this story petering out, it has new life and the months after WrestleMania could be very intriguing if we see Roman Reigns & The Usos take on The Rock’s version of The Bloodline.

A First Time Ever Feud Between Randy Orton And Kevin Owens Would Be Great

These Two Have Never Feuded

  • Orton & Owens both recently challenged for the US Title
  • Their chemistry was undeniable
  • They have never had a proper singles feud in WWE

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens have done battle in some capacities in the past, but they have never had a defined singles feud in WWE. For two of the biggest stars over the last decade, the fact that they’ve never developed a rivalry and storyline together is a big surprise.

Regardless of whether one man turns heel or if they develop issues as babyfaces in the aftermatch of WrestleMania 40, this would be something new, fresh, and star-studded for a non title PLE match.

Bianca Belair Needs A Heel Turn Against Bayley

Belair Needs A Character Refresh

  • Belair has been babyface her entire main roster run
  • She has lost some steam in recent months
  • Belair has had issue with Bayley’s change in attitude

Ever since Bayley’s babyface turn in WWE, Bianca Belair has had trouble trusting her. In a similar way to how Drew McIntyre turned heel due his own justifications and issues with some of the babyfaces on RAW, Belair should do the same on SmackDown to give her character a clean slate and get back to the main event.

10 Best WWE Storylines Since Triple H Took Over Creative

Triple H became WWE’s Chief Content Officer in September 2022. These are the 10 best storylines since ‘The Game’ took over WWE creative.

Whether this be Belair’s crowning moment as a heel or giving Bayley a big challenger to establish herself as a top babyface again, this would be a star-studded clash that would feel fresher with new dynamics than their feud back in 2022.

Cody Rhodes Has A Lot Of History With Randy Orton

Orton Was Rhodes’ Mentor In His Early WWE Days

  • Cody Rhodes was a member of Randy Orton’s “Legacy” faction
  • Their story is ready-made
  • This feud could further establish Rhodes as WWE’s top star

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes have been friendly in WWE since Orton’s return from injury, and their respect has been evident. However, at some point Orton should turn heel, and Rhodes overcoming his former mentor would provide one hell of a story.

This is a rivalry that WWE should do in the months following WrestleMania 40, even though Orton is pretty over as a babyface. Perhaps Orton could go in more of a tweener direction, but the priority should be making Rhodes even more over as WWE’s number one babyface. Rhodes needs to establish himself as the Unidsputed WWE Champion, so facing a big name like Orton will be a sure-fire way to elevate him.

It Is Time For Damian Priest To Leave The Judgment Day And Feud With Finn Balor

Tensions Have Been Steadily Growing In The Judgment Day

  • WWE has teased dissension in the group for a year
  • Damian Priest has babyface potential
  • Feuding with Finn Balor would ensure personal animosity

Damian Priest & Finn Balor haven’t always seen eye to eye within the Judgment Day, but they did manage to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. However, after dropping the belts at WrestleMania and Priest winning the World Heavyweight Title, they should build towards a feud between the pair.

It feels like it is nearing the time for Priest to leave Judgment Day and become a solo star, espeically with the babyface energy he exudes and how easily fans will be able to get on his side. This could very well be either a world title feud or one which starts whenever Priest loses the belt.

Becky Lynch & Liv Morgan Have Unfinished Business In Their Story

WWE Teased This Feud For The Future

  • WWE recently set the stage for Lynch vs. Morgan
  • This could be a great post-WrestleMania feud
  • The pair have history in WWE

Back in 2022, Liv Morgan began her rise as a singles star when she feuded with Becky Lynch, but Lynch (heel at the time) managed to overcome the plucky underdog babyface and prevent her from winning the RAW Women’s Championship.

In the leadup to WrestleMania, WWE teased Morgan having issues with Lynch, and playing into this history would be something that fans would love to see. Morgan and Lynch are both very popular, so sticking them together in a feud after WrestleMania (whether it be for title or not) would be a smart thing to do.

Rhea Ripley And Bianca Belair Has Been Brewing For Years

Belair & Ripley Haven’t Feuded On The Main Roster Yet

  • WWE has been holding off on this rivalry
  • They previously battled in NXT
  • Their trajectories in WWE have been very similar

Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair have been on a similar journey in WWE. They have both won titles at WrestleMania (twice), both won the Royal Rumble, and have both beaten several members of the Four Horsewomen on their path to the top of WWE. However they still haven’t feuded on the main roster.

10 Best WWE Matches Under Triple H’s Leadership, Definitively Reviewed

WWE has thrived both financially and critically under Triple H’s direction, with these matches standing out as the best under his leadership!

After WrestleMania 40, it is about time to pull the trigger on what could become one of the biggest rivalries of all time. This is a rivalry that could even go through several months and PPVs, and we want to finally see it. Whenever Ripley returns from injury, the build to this needs to begin.

Gunther Vs. Seth Rollins Would Be A Big Feud For Both Men

WWE Teased A Showdown Already

  • Gunther & Seth Rollins had a great face off on RAW
  • Gunther needs to beat a huge babyface star to break into the main event
  • This would be a fresh matchup

After both men dropped their respective titles at WrestleMania, Gunther vs. Seth Rollins would be a wonderful feud for WWE to have through the summer months in a non-title capacity.

WWE’s tease of this match got fans salivating for it prior to the Royal Rumble, so fans should be given what they want at some point soon between these two men. It should arguably be Gunther who emerges victorious though to strengthen his pursuit of a world title.

Dominik Mysterio Needs To Get One Over On Rey Mysterio

The Son Needs To Defeat The Father

  • Rey Mysterio defeated Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 39 & WrestleMania 40
  • The veteran is likely nearing the end of his career
  • Dominik Mysterio needs to reignite their feud this year and get a win

Dominik Mysterio hasn’t had a defined feud for himself for a little while, but after WrestleMania he needs to target his father once again and this time beat him once and for all.

Rey Mysterio is still incredible for his age, but he doesn’t have too long left in the ring, and feuding with and putting over his son is something that needs to happen over the next year for sure, especially with Dominik dipping his toes back into his bad blood with his father around WrestleMania 40.

LA Knight & Logan Paul Have Showcased Great Chemistry On The Microphone

A Singles Feud Between These Two Would Be Great

  • Reports from Fightful Select suggest this was the original WrestleMania 40 plan
  • Logan Paul feuded with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens instead
  • WWE should return to this after WrestleMania

During the build to the 2023 Money in the Bank event, LA Knight and Logan Paul clashed both on the microphone and in the ring, showcasing great chemistry and getting the crowd invested. A feud never kicked off though, but it should now that WrestleMania is out of the way.

After Logan Paul retained the United States Title at WrestleMania, it mow needs to be LA Knight who beats him for it. Knight needs a championship win following an insane surge in popularity, and beating someone like Paul would be even sweeter.

Jade Cargill Needs A Star-Making Feud With Charlotte Flair

Two Wrestlers With Huge Aura Will Ensure A Great Clash

  • Cargill is now an active main roster competitor
  • She is undefeated so far
  • Charlotte Flair will return from injury later in 2024

Jade Cargill’s introduction to the WWE main roster has been gradual, but following WrestleMania she has begun getting far more involved in WWE programming after a big victory at the show. A dream match that fans see in her future is with Charlotte Flair, and this feud should start once The Queen returns to WWE programming.

Flair’s injury will see her back after WrestleMania 40, perhaps nearer to SummerSlam time. In an interview with CNBC, she said she was ahead of schedule, so perhaps these two could even battle at SummerSlam.

The Rock & Roman Reigns Needs To Happen Eventually

WWE Wanted This Dream Match To Take Place This Year

  • The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns was planned to take place at WrestleMania
  • WWE changed direction due to fans’ love for Cody Rhodes
  • The Rock turned heel and joined The Bloodline

It isn’t clear what the long-term direction will be for The Rock as a heel, but after WrestleMania one of two things needs to happen. Either The Rock needs to go back to being a babyface and try to take down Roman Reigns, or Reigns eventually turns face and tears down the heel authority tyranny of The Rock.

Triple H’s work as the head of creative in WWE has been great, but not storyline has been great. These are the 10 worst feuds of The Game’s regime.

These two men need to have their match eventually, and if it ends up being at WrestleMania 41, then the build should start early and not too long after this year’s WrestleMania. Rock vs. Reigns is box office, and despite this year being the wrong time, many fans still want it.

WWE Has Set The Stage For Drew McIntyre Vs. CM Punk

This Is Already A Personal Feud

  • Drew McIntyre & CM Punk’s heat blurs the lines
  • They faced off at WrestleMania when Punk cost him the title
  • Drew McIntyre targeted Punk’s injured arm before he was written off TV

CM Punk’s injury was a huge blow to WWE and WrestleMania, but the company made the most of it by having Drew McIntyre attack CM Punk and mention him at every given opportunity, adding fire to their personal animosity and ensuring that when Punk comes back, he has a ready-made feud.

WWE needs to continue following this trajectory and later on in the year Punk needs to come back to take revenge on McIntyre. This could well end up being for the World Heavyweight Championship too, which would add high stakes to it, especially since Punk is the reason why McIntyre no longer holds the title.
