The Rock joined Cody Rhodes in the ring, giving the new champion a gift and seemingly burying the hatchet between the two of them. However, a new fan theory attempting to unravel what exactly it was Rock handed to Rhodes that night suggests the gift was a sign that the issues between them are far from over.
The Rock And Rhodes’ Secret Watch
One of the leading theories out the gate was that Rock had given Rhodes a bead from Roman Reigns’ Ula Fala lay. Other fans thought it may have been a watch, and the flames of that rumor have been seriously fanned over the past week. Further confirmation that the gift may well have been a watch were fueled by Rhodes himself, explaining on SmackDown that it was a “wartime overture”. Soldiers would historically be given watches before heading off to war.
Long-term Plans Reportedly In Place For Cody Rhodes & The Rock
While The Rock won’t be available in the near future, there are plans in place for a major showdown between The Final Boss and Cody Rhodes!
That comment adds credence to the belief Rhodes gave everyone in the main event of WrestleMania Night One a Rolex watch with 40 engraved into them. Not after the match like you might expect, but before as Reigns was seen wearing his at the Hall of Fame ceremony the night before. Why does all that suggest Rock gave Rhodes a watch a few nights after? Well, because it’s not just any watch fans think Rock gave Rhodes. The belief among some is that he gave Rhodes back the watch he gave him at the start of the weekend.

Not only do fans think Rock was giving Rhodes the watch back, but an even deeper theory suggests the watch had been smashed and that all of this is building to an eventual feud between the two. That either Rhodes gave everyone in the match watches but smashed Rock’s before giving him his, or that Rock smashed the watch after Rhodes beat his cousin for the Undisputed Title and then gave it back to him. A not-so-subtle sign that everything is in fact not okay between them, and that he’ll be coming for him when he returns to WWE.
After how well The Rock’s first match back for eight years went, and now he’s on the TKO board, it seems likely The People’s Champ hasn’t wrestled his last match. Not only has WWE potentially already teased a showdown between him and Rhodes, but all is not well in The Bloodline. Between Reigns’ absence and Tama Tonga getting involved, there’s going to be a battle between Bloodline members, and you have to think The Rock will eventually be involved.
