A WOMAN, aged in her 20s, has been killed in a horror crash in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
The fatal smash took place at around 8am this morning after a truck collided with the woman’s bicycle when she was out cycling.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of the Glenageary Road Upper, Mountown Road Lower and Kill Avenue after receiving reports of the smash.
The cyclist was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.
The road remains closed at this time and a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators is taking place.
Local diversions have been put in place but motorists have been warned that delays are to be expected.
Gardai have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information, particularly if they are in possession of any footage.
In a statement this afternoon, a Garda spokesman said: “Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area are asked to make this footage available to GardaÃ.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dun Laoghaire Garda Station on 01 666 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
