Before being in charge of the program, Pablo Motos I had done very little televisionand always as a collaborator of formats or as a scriptwriter or stand-up comedian in Comedy clubFor example.

Why ‘El Hormiguero’?
It’s curious that the origin of the name The Anthill is related to the fact that, in 2003, the United States invaded Iraq. Motos explained it to Joaquin Sanchez when he visited him on his Antena 3 program.
“In the Iraq war, a million people went out to say ‘no to war’. And Aznar did not listen to anyone and went to war. It was like we are nobody…“, commented the Valencian.
“We are little ants that are only looking at the ass of the ant in front, but we have an opinion of life. We are not more than anyone, but not less either,” Motos recalled.
Then, as a result of that comment from the presenter on the program, people started calling We are nobody and He always repeated the same greeting: “I am an ant.”.
“And then, when we go to do a television show, we already have a million ants (in relation to the audience of the radio program). And hence the name El Hormiguero,” explained the host of the Antena 3 program.
The initial origin of Trancas y Barrancas
From the little ants on the radio they jumped to televisionbut when almost two decades ago, Motos proposed to Jorge Salvador, his partner in the production company 7ycción, that in The Anthill Some rag dolls had to appear, it seemed crazy to him.
Then one day, The Valencian appeared at the program offices with two rag socksproposing that they be the ones to come out from under the table to interview the guests.
That idea seemed like the ultimate madness to Motos’s partner, but deep down, he liked the idea of ​​dolls, and He proposed to the presenter that they were ants, given the name of the program.
They commissioned designer Óscar Julve to design the designs, sketches that Salvador once showed on the program. After choosing the shape, the name remained.
Many options were considered, such as Troche and Moche or Pipa and Popa, but he was a collaborator of The Anthill, Brownthe one who ended up baptizing the ants.
