Everyone knows how “Romeo and Juliet” tragically ends.
In “& Juliet,” William Shakespeare’s classic play is reimagined with a twist.
The musical, currently running at New York City’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre, envisions a world from Anne Hathaway’s perspective where Juliet (spoiler!) doesn’t die and lives a full life of her own told through popular, contemporary Max Martin-produced hits like “Since U Been Gone,” “…Baby One More Time” and “Larger Than Life” that weave through the narrative.
“It was inclusive, entertaining and enjoyable,” the New York Post’s Victoria Giardina said after attending the lively show.
“And I loved how funny the characters were. However, I’d say it’s best for those 18 and up due to some cheeky and more mature references.”

“& Juliet” tickets 2024
Opening night for “& Juliet” was way back in November 2022.
Now that the musical is a well-oiled machine it runs eight times a week including three matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
As expected, the Stephen Sondheim Theatre goes dark on Mondays.

Lorna Courtney (Juliet) is a Queens native and received a Best Actress Tony nomination for her work in the role. You may also recognize her from “Dear Evan Hansen” on Broadway and CBS’ “The Equalizer.”
David Bedella (Lance) originated the role of Lance DuBois on the West End where he was awarded his third Laurence Olivier Award. Notable film and TV roles include “Batman Begins,” “Argylle” and “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.”
Betsy Wolfe (Anne) has done it all. If she looks familiar from Broadway, it’s possible you saw her in “Waitress,” “Falsettos” or “Bullets Over Broadway.” Cinephiles may have seen her in “The Last Five Years” or “Tales Of The City.”
Austin Scott (Shakespeare) made his Broadway debut in “Hamilton.” He works regularly in film and TV as well; Scott co-starred in Tyler Perry’s “A Jazzman’s Blues” for Netflix and showed up in “Pose,” “Mr. Monk’s Last Case” and “Sistas.” Soon, he’ll appear in the FX Limited Series “The Sterling Affairs” as Blake Griffin.
Justin David Sullivan (May) dedicates their performance to every queer, trans, non-binary, or person of color in the audience. “808,” a short film starring Sullivan, is currently in post-production.
