In a recent development concerning the legal battle between Vince McMahon and Janel Grant, McMahon has taken a significant step by filing a motion to compel arbitration. This legal maneuver aims to divert the dispute away from the traditional courtroom setting and into private arbitration.

For those unfamiliar with arbitration, it is a dispute resolution process where an impartial arbitrator is appointed to make binding decisions on the matter at hand, bypassing the need for a court trial. This route is often favored by parties seeking a more confidential and expedited resolution to their conflicts. As one would expect, Vince McMahon would prefer this case not to reach a courtroom.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.com highlighted McMahon’s defense strategy, emphasizing that McMahon argues the existence of an arbitration clause within the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed by both parties. McMahon’s stance is that this clause mandates the resolution of any disputes through private arbitration. He’s looking to enforce that suggesting that Grant’s insistence to file these allegations with the court was with the intent to garner publicity.

In his defense against Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse and coercion, McMahon vehemently denies the accusations, branding them as “outrageous claims” and “pure fiction”. McMahon asserts that he and Grant engaged in a consensual relationship and he did not coerce or mistreat her.

Furthermore, McMahon contests Grant’s assertion that she was grieving the loss of her parents at the time of their relationship, providing evidence that her father passed away in 2017 and her mother earlier. McMahon dismisses Grant’s claims of abusive behavior, deeming them implausible given the alleged circumstances. McMahon further notes the absence of any contact from her lawyer fiancé, Brian Gonvalves. McMahon contends that neither Gonvalves nor any other party, including law enforcement or Grant’s acquaintances, reached out to him regarding the alleged incidents.

McMahon Wants To Settle This Case

There were previous reports that McMahon was confident this would never go to trial and that, if anything, he would have to settle out of court. This may be the first step in his plan to avoid a trial. McMahon’s motion to compel arbitration suggests he’s trying to resolve the dispute privately.
