UFC Star Conor McGregor Joins BKFC As Part Owner

Highlights

  • Conor McGregor partners with BKFC, his company acquiring ownership stakes in the organization.
  • McGregor teases competing in bare-knuckle boxing, but UFC contract makes crossover unlikely.
  • BKFC president David Feldman excited for partnership, sees potential for growth and global expansion.

In a move that further solidifies his presence in the combat sport, former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has announced his partnership with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships (BKFC), with his company McGregor Sports and Entertainment acquiring ownership stakes in the organization.

McGregor has been a longtime fan of bare-knuckle boxing and even teased competing in the sport. However, the Irish superstar has a contract with the UFC and it is unlikely that they will let their biggest star crossover to another promotion. This news comes after Triller, the company that owns BKFC, has been acquired in a merger with AGBA, a Hong Kong-based finance company.

The revelation came during Saturday night’s BKFC KnuckleMania 4 event in Los Angeles, where McGregor disclosed the news via a video message. Under the agreement, McGregor’s company will hold ownership shares alongside Triller, the majority shareholder of BKFC.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the huge announcement that I have for you today, Conor McGregor myself and McGregor Sports and Entertainment is now an owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships,” McGregor declared in the video. “Welcome to the big leagues. David Feldman, baby, we did it.”

BKFC president David Feldman expressed his delight at McGregor’s involvement, particularly recalling their encounter during a card in 2023, which culminated in a memorable faceoff between McGregor and Mike Perry following Perry’s victory over former UFC champion Luke Rockhold.

The 32-year-old Mike ‘Platinum’ Perry has really made a name for himself in the BKFC, where he has an $8 million contract.

“Look, you’ve got the biggest guy in all of combat sports right now as a part owner of our company,” Feldman remarked during the BKFC KnuckleMania 4 broadcast. “I think it’s just going to move the needle tremendously. We’re going to do a lot of big things. We’re going to open up a lot of new markets.”

Feldman emphasized the potential for significant growth and expansion with McGregor’s partnership, envisioning collaborative efforts to elevate BKFC’s profile globally. The move aligns with BKFC’s recent efforts to broaden its reach, including ventures into international markets, with prospects of extending operations to McGregor’s homeland of Ireland.

McGregor’s involvement not only underscores his continued influence in combat sports but also heralds a new chapter for BKFC as it strives to capitalize on his star power and expand its presence in the industry.
