UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has disclosed that his earnings from social media activities far exceed his income from fighting in the UFC. He won the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 292 with an upset victory over Aljamain Sterling.

Speaking on Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk, O’Malley opened up about his financial success beyond the octagon, indicating a significant shift in how fighters perceive and leverage their online presence.


O’Malley stated that his social media income tripled his collective earnings from UFC fights in 2023. Martyn asked the UFC star if fighters are realizing that they have to use social media to boost their earnings and referenced Sean Strickland.

The 29-year-old fighter highlighted the disparity between his UFC paydays and his online earnings, noting that he paid more in taxes than he made from fighting alone. O’Malley claimed that his goal was to become a multi-millionaire and explained how he uses social media to make his money.

“I paid more in taxes than I made last year in my fight and I made a lot of money fighting but I made triple that from social media. From Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter like all these different social media, I made triple the amount of money I made fighting. I made a lot of money fighting. So it’s like, it just depends what these guys’ goals are.”


O’Malley praised his future opponent Merab Dvalishvili for his social media content, which helps him attract a fanbase.
