The people of Madrid are celebrating. May 2, like every year, is the day of Madrid’s community. Beyond being a holiday, which is added to May 1, the region commemorates the uprising of Madrid citizens who in 1808 faced the French troops of Napoleon Bonaparte, who wanted to occupy the peninsula.
