The arrival of summer and its warm temperatures turns Spanish beaches into a refuge for those who want to get rid of the heat. In this sense, the coast of Cantabria stands out for its tranquility and beauty of its natural environment.
This 2024, Spain has been crowned again in the world ranking of the Environmental and Consumer Education Association (Adeac), which assigns blue flags based on the excellence of the waters, the safety of bathers and beach services. This summer, a total of 747 blue flags will fly on Spanish beaches, ports and tourist boats. And in Cantabria, specifically, 10 will do so.
Blue flags in five municipalities
These 10 Cantabrian blue flags are distributed throughout almost nine kilometers of beaches. In total, there are five municipalities that have achieved this distinction in their waters:
- Arnuero: Quejo’s Saber and The Sand.
- Castro-Urdiales: Brazomar, Oriñón and Ostend.
- Noja: Ris and TrengandÃn.
- San Vicente de la Barquera: Saber of Meron.
- Suances: The Saber of Tagle and The Locos.
