The UCO rules out that the detainees killed the Barbate agents and points to a second drug boat: “I wanted to take their lives”

The occupants of the drug boat that rammed the patrol boat Civil Guard in the port of Barbate (Cádiz) on February 9 and caused the death of two agents had the “clear and unequivocal” intention to cause them “serious harm” or “take their lives”, since there is no evidence that they were carrying anything illegal that they had to “defend”.

This is stated in the report of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard and the Judicial Police of the Command of Cadiz and in which participation in the events of the intervened vessel is ruled out the next day and of the six people in provisional detention as alleged perpetrators.

The four-motor drug boat (the one that hit the patrol boat) “He was not carrying drugs, nor flasks of gasoline, nor migrants”as happens on other occasions in which drug traffickers protect cargo by fleeing from security forces, the report highlights.

“Beyond patronizing a forbidden genre, They had nothing to ‘defend’ and, therefore, the only explanation found to give meaning to the brutal ‘gratuitous’ attack carried out against the Civil Guard boat is the intention to cause serious damage and take their lives.”

The wrong drug boat

At least three people occupied the drug boatas concluded by the exhaustive study of the recordings from the camera carried by one of the murdered agents, as well as those from the port’s closed circuit television and others obtained from open sources.

From this analysis it is clear that the drug boat that attacked the official patrol boat had four engines and one antenna, while the one that was intercepted was also four-engined but had two antennas.

The report, the result of the joint team of the UCO and the Cádiz Command created to clarify the facts, emphasizes that The perpetrators knew that they were attacking the Civil Guard.

The investigation also reveals the clear situation of helplessness of the patrol boatgiven the “substantial difference in size, power and agility” between it, “much slower and lighter”, and the drug boat that ran over them.

For this reason, investigators believe that the drug traffickers took advantage of a situation of “helplessness” of the attacked agents, who despite firing shots in the air could not prevent the attack.

The investigators have viewed the videos and the sequence of events and have come to the conclusion that The boat that was intervened was not the one that hit the patrol boat and ended the lives of agents David Pérez and Miguel Ángel González.

The detainees always claimed to be innocent

In their statements in court, the six arrested, among them the well-known Francisco Javier MP, alias Kiko el Cabra, denied at all times that they were the ones traveling in the drug boat that attacked the civil guards.

The Civil Guard report recognizes that The analyzed images do not offer sufficient detail to be able to identify neither the people nor the make of the boats, but it does allow us to notice all the movements of one of them – the suspect – without losing sight of it at any time thanks to the superimposition of the images.

The Civil Guard has been able to reconstruct all the moments immediately “before, after and simultaneous with the attacks” and therefore “individualize” the drug gang responsible.
