It’s been five years since Jorge Lorenzo announced his withdrawal from MotoGP to face other challenges. The latest challenge in which the former Mallorcan pilot has immersed himself is boxing, which he has taken advantage of to challenge an old rival: Dani Pedrosa.
“15 years ago we had our ups and downs, both on and off the track. Now that celebrity nights are in fashion, I came up with a slightly crazy challenge: I challenge you here, at the Gran Price in Barcelona, ​​to a fight behind closed doors“says the Spaniard, in a video with gloves on.
His message to the KTM test rider does not stop there, as the clip is accompanied by a text in which he insists on the challenge: “After our differences, both on and off the track, I think the time has come to take action on the matter and face each other in the ring. Dani Pedrosa, I challenge you, do you accept?”
Far from declining the proposal, the three-time Moto3 and Moto2 world champion has taken up the gauntlet: “Hello Jorge, I just watched your video. You just told me I’m going to Jerez. Right off the bat, I thought it was a pretty crazy idea. .. but it is also true that now I am in shape and I am not going to deny that the temptation to give you a couple of hosts is quite important. So, I accept your challenge: tell me the day and time, and we’ll see you in the ring.”
The bad relationship between Pedrosa and Lorenzo lasted for years, even reached the label of “enemies”which led King Juan Carlos I to grab their hands, seeking to get them to greet each other on the podium of the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
