Highlights

  • The Rock hinted at targeting The Undertaker after WrestleMania 40.
  • Undertaker may not compete again, but future appearances are possible.
  • The Rock is setting up future storylines in WWE, promising more involvement.

The Rock may have warned Cody Rhodes he’d be coming back for him when his current stint in Hollywood is over, but The American Nightmare isn’t the only person on The Final Boss’ radar. Based on a post The Rock sent out on social media Wednesday, he’s got another WWE legend on his mind.

Fans who watched the Showcase of the Immortals know that The Undertaker interfered in the Bloodline Rules match and helped Cody win the WWE Undisputed Championship. Clearly unhappy about the Deadman’s involvement, The Rock took to Instagram and X.com and posted a photo of The Undertaker setting him up for a chokeslam at WrestleMania 40. Along with a couple of photos, he included a caption, writing: “The guy sure knows how to ruin a party. I’ll see you down the road, my friend. Payback’s a bitch for you – but fun for me.”

The Undertaker isn’t likely to have a match in WWE ever again. On his Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway podcast, he recently stated that his appearance at WrestleMania 40 brought him the closure he needed and didn’t get in a cinematic match with AJ Styles. Taker can’t physically handle another match, but he didn’t rule out the possibility of future appearances. So, while The Rock is hinting that he’s also coming for The Undertaker, at best, it would be some sort of one-off encounter that doesn’t include a bout between the two.

The Rock Is Setting The Stage For Several Future Storylines

The good news, even if an Undertaker vs. The Rock match never happens, is that The Rock is setting up future storylines that essentially guarantee he’ll be involved in WWE again. He already noted he was coming back, but the more he talks about matches and issues with different WWE stars, the more it seems he’s prepping for a longer run and a lot more involvement in the on-air product. This is good news for fans of The Rock and the WWE. His involvement undeniably helps the ratings and improving financial metrics across the board.

The Undertaker has yet to respond. If he does, the WWE Universe will have a field day trying to figure out how he’s worked into the new Bloodline narrative.
