Professional wrestling has seen numerous couples throughout it’s history. Some have become iconic. However, not everyone lasts together, unfortunately. AEW’s Darby Allin and NXT’s Gigi Dolin are one example of this. The two had been together for a little bit before they got married. However, their marriage did not last. But, as Dolin explained, never say never to anything.

Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin are big stars in their respective promotions. Allin is set to be involved in the Four Pillars match for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing. Dolin is a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion with Jacy Jayne in the now defunct faction known as Toxic Attraction. Both Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin had a wrestling life before AEW and WWE though. In that life, the two met and fell in love and, once upon a time, were actually married. Here is what happened in the relationship and why Allin and Dolin are no longer together.

Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin (who went by Priscilla Kelly in her pre-WWE days) have a long history in wrestling. Dolin made her wrestling debut in 2015 at just the age of 17. A year later she would be part of the Shine roster. It was there that she was the first ever Shine Nova Champion. Along the way she faced fellow future big names like Jordynne Grace, Kiera Hogan, Tess Blanchard, and Deonna Purrazzo. She has also worked for promotions such as Full Impact Pro, Evolve, and Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. In 2018, Dolin competed in WWE’s Mae Young Classic as well under the Priscilla Kelly name. Dolin actually even competed in AEW for a very brief time, taking part in 2019’s All Out’s Casino Battle Royale and wrestling Britt Baker in a losing effort early on the next year.

Darby Allin made his wrestling debut one year earlier in 2014. His carefree, high-flying style immediately got him noticed in many promotions like EVOLVE Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and GCW. He also wrestled in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and Progress Wrestling. He, too, faced some of wrestling’s future stars, battling names such as Sammy Guevara, Brian Cage, and Sami Callihan. It was during these years that Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin met. After just four months, they got married.

On November 21, 2018, Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin were married. Sadly, their union didn’t last very long. Less than two years later, on August 10, 2020, Dolin tweeted that she and Allin were getting divorced. A few months later, on Vickie Guerrero’s now no more Excuse Me podcast, Dolin confirmed that she and Allin were no longer together.

“We are separated. But even now, I’m still getting comments like, ‘oh, the worst thing you could have ever done was leave Darby.’ People assume it’s a good thing Darby left me. People just want to assume that because we are divorced that it was Darby who dumped me or I dumped him and assume I hate it because he’s a big superstar. To me, none of that matters. To me, a lot of times people assume when they hear the word divorce that something horrific has happened and they hate each other.”

“With us, we realize we got married really young and really fast. He proposed after dating me for four months. That works for some people but for us, we realized we were not mature enough to handle that label of marriage. Sometimes just the label of marriage can add so much pressure and stress to a relationship. It’s hard to get people who haven’t been married to understand that. Let’s remove this label and then let’s see how things go.”

Gigi Dolin & Darby Allin Are On Positive Terms With Each Other

During the same interview, Gigi Dolin talked about the relationship she now had with Darby Allin after their divorce.

“Since we removed that label of being married, we’ve been getting along great. We are best friends. We hang out all the time. We never have any conflict. We both still have little issues. We are both really young. We are still learning where we want to go with our careers and where we want our lives to go. It’s a lot all at once. I think people need to stop damning the word divorce because it sounds horrible, but sometimes you can get a divorce, spend a few years learning about yourselves and mature as a human being, and years later, try again and it probably would be a lot better.”

Both Darby Allin and Gigi Dolin have made headlines in professional wrestling in both of their respective companies. Dolin is a standout star in NXT’s women’s division and Allin has become one of the faces of AEW.
