The only three countries in the world where not a single Spanish citizen lives

Surely, while traveling or on vacation in another country, you have met some Spaniards. In fact, it is a cliché to say that it seems that there are Spaniards in every corner of the world. However, far from being a joke, this is a reality, since It is true that there are Spaniards living in (almost) every country in the world.

This is confirmed by the census of Spanish Population Resident Abroad (PERE) which is updated year after year by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). In this table It is possible to see the number of Spaniards who reside in each country in the world and the different Spanish communities settled on each continent, and can be broken down by age and sex.

However, statistics also indicate that There are only three countries on the entire planet in which no Spanish citizen resides.

The three countries where Spaniards do not live

Thus, it is striking to see in the INE data that the only countries in the world where no Spaniards reside are two Asian states and one African: this is the case of North Korea, Eritrea and Taykistan.

On the other hand, the countries with the most Spaniards in their territory are Argentina (482,176 Spaniards), France (310,072), USA (206.278), United Kingdom (189,779) and Germany (188,250).

In absolute terms, the greatest growth in the Spanish population during 2023 was recorded in Mexico (15,918 more), the United States (13,512) and France (12,930).
