The location of the 28 municipal swimming pools that will open this summer in Madrid

Madrid residents will be able to take a dip this summer in the 28 pools that the City hall makes available to residents: there will be 20 outdoor and 8 heated swimming pools with solarium for recreational use that are added for the first time to the municipal offer. The 2024 season will begin this May 15, coinciding with the San Isidro festivalwith the traditional open day and will last until Sunday, September 8.

The vice mayor and municipal spokesperson, Inma Sanz, already announced that they were studying alternatives for residents affected by the closure of the Peñuelas pool after neighborhood complaints. Therefore, to compensate the neighbors affected by the rehabilitation works, The Madrid City Council has decided to open eight covered municipal swimming pools with solariums during the summer season.. Thus, the Arganzuela district will have two heated swimming pools as it does not have any outdoors. There will be two more of this type in Vegetable and in Carabanchel and Villaverderespectively, and also in Fuencarral-El Pardo and Puente de Vallecas.

Added to this novelty for the 2024 pool season are around twenty summer pools. This year the newly built ones will debut in the districts of Tetouan and Barajas, and those of Orcasitas and Vicálvaro, which reopen after maintenance work. The calendar looks like this, by districts:
