The Government intervenes the RFEF and will make it official this Thursday

The race for the presidency of the Real spanish soccer federation will stop immediately this Thursday. This will be the case after the Spanish Government, through the CSD, has decided to intervene in the RFEF —with the approval of the FIFA— in order to create some stability until elections are held after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The decision was announced on Wednesday night by the newspaper AS, La Ser and El País in information that indicates that José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, Secretary of State for Sports, will announce the intervention this Thursday. It will be carried out with the approval of FIFA and through a Commission that will be called ‘Normalization, Supervision and Representation’ and that will favor the transition until the new elections.

According to this information, this action proposed last Tuesday in the Congress of Deputies by Uribes himself will be carried out after the meeting of the board of directors of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) regardless of the suspension – or non-suspension – of Pedro Rocha after the opening of a file for very serious violations by the Administrative Court of Sports.

Luis Rubiales, at the National Court.

It should be remembered that Rocha, president of the Management Commission after the resignation of Rubiales and until his recent resignation to run for the RFEF elections, He delayed the calling of elections until last March.

Once called, the electoral race has become progressively more complicated until reaching a situation of total blockade. So, just as the Italian Government already did in 2006the Spanish Government will be in charge of putting the waters back on track after the two major events this summer: the Euro 2024 Championship and the Paris Olympic Games.
