The family of a Canadian who died of a heart attack while enjoying a vacation with his family in Varadero, in March, have reported that the body of your loved one ended up in Russia.
After paying $7,300 to transport the remains to Quebec, they received a coffin with the body of a Russian. The Cuban authorities, after the uproar over the case, have confirmed that the body was sent to Russia and buried near Moscow.
The family of the deceased Faraj Jarjour, a 68-year-old Canadian of Syrian origin who lives in Montrealreceived the wrong body of a Russian citizen 20 years younger.
The wrong corpse
It all started when Jarjour’s children, Miriam and Karam, arrived at the Canadian funeral home that received the remains from Cuba and discovered that The body did not match that of his father.
On Wednesday, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly spoke with her Cuban counterpart, Bruno RodrÃguez, about Jarjour’s case.
Shortly after, the Cuban foreign minister wrote on the social network Cuban authorities were investigating what happenedand at the same time expressed his “condolences and apologies” to the family of the Canadian citizen.

Finally, Canadian authorities informed the Jarjour family that their father’s remains had been mistakenly sent to Russia, where they were buried.
After the confusion was revealed, Faraj Jarjour’s body will be disinterred and repatriated to Canada.
Miriam Jarjour told Canadian public radio, CBCwho have no choice but to be patient because what happened is out of their control.
