The circular scam

It started as a romantic, somewhat hippie and utopian idea. It seemed that circular consisted of reusing objects, sharing them with others, not throwing away so much and having a greater awareness of the need to reduce general consumption to take better care of ourselves.. It was a mirage or a cover. Some companies used the concept well to sell their proposal, but the circular contained a scam.

The theory is not entirely bad, but it has some protectionism, an important part of paternalism and another that is, directly, a lie. The European Parliament defines the circular economy as “a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, renewing and recycling existing materials and products as many times as possible to create added value. In this way, the life cycle of the products is extended.”

The same organization, with one of those unbearable videos in which a hand makes explanatory drawings, wants to make us understand that this means reducing waste to a minimum. When a product reaches the end of its life, its materials are kept within the economy wherever possible through recycling. These can be productively used over and over again, thus creating additional value. The added value that the European Parliament talks about goes, of course, to the banks.

You have to be circular, but without going overboard. We have to be circular, but work for free for those in charge and for giant and powerful companies.

The translation is very clear: The circular economy is fine if governments and large companies benefit from it. The citizen can contribute his free labor – we have already talked about the example of recycling – but he should not go further. We have the recent case of the control that the Ministry of Finance has begun to exercise over direct sales platforms such as Wallapoby Vinted.

If during a year more than thirty sales are made on one of these platforms or more than two thousand euros are exceeded, there is an obligation to inform the Treasury. You have to be circular, but without going overboard. We have to be circular, but work for free for those in charge and for giant and powerful companies. You already confirm yourself with saving the planet. If you are circular for yourself and you sell an armchair, two TVs and a lamp because you are moving, be careful because you may have gone too far and the Treasury no longer likes that. She recycles and remains silent. Save the planet and pay.
