This Thursday, the province of Barcelona launched a new mobile ATM assistance servicepromoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council, which will benefit about 58,000 inhabitants of a hundred municipalities without a bank office or ATM.
It is a project approved unanimously at the October 2021 plenary session and has been launched in collaboration with thetowns involvedas reported by the corporation in a statement.
Parcs del Penedèsin Alt Penedès, is the first municipality that has visited this new service, which allows you to withdraw cash with any debit, credit or prepaid card – regardless of the credit institution that users have – and with your mobile phone.
To withdraw money from the ATM, users must pay a commission of 1.35 euros Meanwhile he rest of the services will be free.
You can also check your latest movements and balance, change your PIN and recharge a prepaid card, and inside the vehicle you can direct debit and pay local taxes from the Tributary Management Organization (ORGT)as well as receive information about services provided by the Provincial Council.
This Friday the service will reach three more municipalities in Alt Penedès (Castellet i la Gornal, Les Cabanyes and Pontons), and one from Anoia (Cabrera d’Anoia) and Garraf (Olivella).
Installed in a vehicle
The cashier is installed in a vehicle which serves 96 municipalities of Alt Penedès (6), Anoia (18), Bages (11), Baix Llobregat (1), Berguedà (20), Garraf (1), Lluçanès (6), Maresme (1), Moianès (7), Osona (17), Vallès Occidental (2) and Vallès Oriental (6).
Through programmed routes, the mobile ATM will travel once a month for towns with less than 1,000 inhabitants (81 municipalities, 84% of the total) and twice a month those that have more than 1,000 (15 municipalities, 16% of the total).
The most suitable location
Before coming into operation, the town councils have decided on the most appropriate location, taking into account the needs of the residents.
Once it is up and running in the different municipalities, they will report on the management of the service and warn of any incident that may arise.
Each municipality will have the day and time of arrival of the mobile ATM, a consultation website accessible from the town hall website, as well as an email address and a contact telephone number for any incident.
