The affectionate gesture of King Felipe VI with Princess Leonor after the flag oath in Zaragoza

This has been the third time that Felipe de Borbón kisses the national flag in Zaragoza. The first occasion took place as a cadet in October 1985, at the age of 17, and was repeated in February 2010, with the then-Princess Letizia in the box, on the 25th anniversary of the 44th promotion, made up of 220 officers.

As a special feature, on this third occasion the Princess of Asturias has also been present as she is part of one of the companies deployed in the parade ground, a unpublished image in the history of Spain, the Crown and the Academy.

After the reception with the national anthem, honors and the firing of salutes, the king reviewed the units, walking past his daughter’s group. When heading to the royal box, the queen also looked for the princess, who did not occupy a prominent place in the formation.

As a second-year cadet lady, Leonor de Borbón has worn the same period uniform of blue jacket, red pants and feather hat which he already wore during his flag oath on October 7.

At the end of this commemorative event, Princess Leonor was able to share a relaxed moment with your parents. In a video published by the Royal Family, the three are seen posing in front of the cameras to immortalize this moment.

Immediately afterwards, the princess looks smiling at her parents, and King Felipe VI responds with a loving gesturecaressing his shoulder as a sign of complicity.

This is the second time in which Felipe VI and his eldest daughter match on the parade ground of the General Military Academy after his flag oath in October.

The heir to the throne was in Zaragoza with her parents on July 7 of last year at the delivery of dispatches to the new lieutenants, although at that time she was not a cadet and followed the ceremony from the box, dressed in civilian clothes.

Don Felipe was also with her in mid December on a day of maneuvers at the San Gregorio training field located next to the academy.
