  • Taz believes heavy lifting, not past bumps, caused his pain; warns wrestlers against excessive weight training.
  • Taz’s decision not to undergo surgery means he’ll continue entertaining fans on AEW television, a key part of the product.

AEW commentator Taz has taken to social media to provide fans with a health update on himself, revealing some of the pain he’s been dealing with.

Taz Reveals That He Requires Surgery

Taz revealed that he had a recent meeting with an orthopedic surgeon to discuss the knee pain he’s been handling. The results of the x-rays showed that he would need both his shoulders and knees replaced, which would be four major surgeries for him to go through.

It’s an eye-opening revelation that highlights the seriousness of the issue Taz is dealing with. But even though that was the result of the discussion, he revealed that for now, he’s opting against surgery. That doesn’t mean he’s ignoring the situation though, as he’s continuing with some regenerative procedures that he hopes will help.

Taz had a brilliant in-ring career where he was able to compete at the highest level successfully. Even though he took some major bumps over the years, he made it clear this pain wasn’t because of that. Instead, he believes his attempts to lift heavy weights in a bid to increase his size is the reason for this, which he’s encouraged current wrestlers to avoid doing.

Fortunately, the wrestling landscape has changed drastically from Taz’s days as an in-ring performer. Size isn’t the crucial factor that it once was, with many smaller wrestlers going on to thrive not just as a competitive wrestler, but in the main event scene of major companies.

Taz Will Continue To Entertain On AEW Television

While Taz opting against surgery means he’s going to have to deal with the pain for the time being, it does come as a benefit to AEW’s overall product as it means he won’t be taking any time off television. The former ECW star has been a vital member of the product ever since he first joined the company back in 2019 and that remains the case today.
