Sydney Sweeney’s rep is hitting back at Carol Baum after the Hollywood producer criticized the actress’ looks and acting skills.
“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman,” the “Euphoria” star’s rep said in a statement to The Post. “If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful.”
The quote from Sweeney’s team comes a day after Baum, whose credits include “Father of the Bride” and “Shining Through,” slammed the two-time Emmy nominee following a screening of her 1988 film “Dead Ringers.”
“There’s an actress who everybody loves now — Sydney Sweeney,” Baum said, per the Daily Mail. “I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney’s movie [‘Anyone But You’] because I wanted to watch it. I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her.”
Baum, who teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, called the 2023 comedy “unwatchable” and said she asked her students to explain to her why Sweeney is “so hot” to them.
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’” she recalled.
“Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, ‘Well, if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?’” Baum added.

“I said, ‘Well that’s a really good question … that’s a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.’”
Fans defended the “Immaculate” star, 26, after Baum’s comments went viral on social media.
“Sydney Sweeney received 2 Emmy nods for acting at age 24 delivered 2 hit films she headlined AND produced at age 26. Carol Baum, with nothing relevant on her resume in 30 years, should sit this one out. P.S. Trash talking the looks of an objectively attractive woman, is low,” tweeted one user on X.

“How sad to hear a veteran female film producer Carol Baum criticize Sydney Sweeney for not being pretty! Internal misogyny hides in the least likely places,” wrote a third fan.
Sweeney rose to fame in her role as Cassie Howard in the hit HBO teen drama “Euphoria,” in which she gained an Emmy nod for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
The “Madame Web” star also received an Emmy nomination for her role in “The White Lotus.”
Though “Anyone But You” garnered mixed reviews, the film, which also stars Glen Powell, reportedly raked in more than $200 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since 2016’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby.”
