Sycamore Gap update as two men charged after iconic tree chopped down

TWO men have been charged connection with the felling of the Sycamore Gap tree.

The Sycamore Gap tree, which featured in blockbuster Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves, was destroyed in September.

Daniel Graham, 38, and Adam Carruthers, 31, have been charged with causing criminal damage to the famous Sycamore Gap tree and Hadrian’s Wall last September in Northumberland, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Fenney-Menzies, of Northumbria Police, said at the time: “We completely recognise the feeling of loss in the community and further afield following the deliberate felling of Sycamore Gap.

“I would like to reassure the public that our investigation continues, and we remain committed to establishing the full circumstances surrounding the damage, and in bringing any offenders to justice.”
