Thaigo Alves Was Tempted Out Of Retirement For Mike Perry Clash

The MMA Veteran Couldn’t Turn Down The Huge Pay Day

Thiago Alves, once resigned to the idea that his fighting days were behind him, found himself unexpectedly drawn back into the ring. Following his victory over Uly Diaz to claim the BKFC middleweight championship in 2021, the 40-year-old Brazilian fighter found himself without enticing offers to continue his career. Despite his focus shifting towards coaching, with a prominent role at American Top Team in Florida, Alves never officially retired but didn’t anticipate stepping into competition again.

However, fate took a turn when BKFC extended a lucrative offer and the opportunity to square off against Mike Perry at KnuckleMania 4 this Saturday. As one of the primary instructors at American Top Team, Alves spends six days a week working alongside top-tier athletes. For him, maintaining peak physical condition isn’t just about personal fitness but also about demonstrating the effectiveness of his coaching methods.

In Alves’ own words to MMA Fighting, “I’m always active… It’s important to stay in shape so you can show what you’re trying to tell them really works.” Alves’ commitment to his craft has kept him ready for the unexpected call to action, allowing him to seize the opportunity to showcase his skills once again in the BKFC ring.
