STACEY SOLOMON has shared an insight into her gardening routine, as she shared a video of herself roaming around Pickle Cottage at night.
The Sort Your Life Out star is no stranger to getting her hands dirty, whether it’s doing DIY on her home, or cleaning her patio ready for summer and has now revealed the extreme lengths she goes to protect her children’s vegetable patch.
In a video posted last night on husband Joe Swash’s Instagram account and then shared by Stacey to her story, the mum of five can be seen running around the vegetable patch in the pitch black sporting a large head torch.
“I’ve lost my evenings with my wife to a bunch of slugs”, Joe joked.
“No one can say she doesn’t go above and beyond to make the kids dreams come true.”
As Stacey rummaged around in the vegetable patch Joe watched on from a cosy looking firepit, tutting as he exclaimed “what is she doing?”.
“Are your babies all tucked in and ready for the night ahead?” Joe joked, referring to the vegetables.
“You think this is a joke right, but what do you call that?”, Stacey shot back, pulling a slug off one of the plants.
After Stacey had successfully de-slugged her garden, to Joe’s relief, she headed inside to bed.
“Behind every kid successfully growing veg is a mum protecting their patch”, Joe said.
Sharing the video to her story, Stacey joked: “This is just how I spend my evenings now”.
Fans of the Loose Women star flooded the Instagram post, with many suggesting methods Stacey could use to banish slugs from the veg patch.
One person said: “My Husband wants a head torch now for when he goes slug patrolling!”.
Another said: “Fill some little cups with a very dark ale or strong beer and scatter them around the garden.
“The slugs will go in and the birds will eat them during the day”.
A third said: “Get a slug pub, it’s a tray and you fill it up with beer and the slugs love it.
Keep pests out all summer
Hornets and wasps – hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay.
Moths – acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent.
Flying ants – herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents.
Mosquitoes – plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mossies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.
“They fall in and drown.”
A fourth added: “Oh this is so sweet and funny.”
De-slugging isn’t the only gardening venture Stacey has been getting up to lately.
Earlier in the day the X-Factor star shared how scrubbed her patio clean and got her table and chairs out ready for summer.
“I decided to clean up the area by the patch and put our table there so I can stalk the veg”, she said.

She also revealed that she picked up some solar garden lights from Amazon so that she can “really see the slugs” when she goes for her late night slug picking.
