Spann falls by KO against Guskov at UFC Vegas 91

UFC Vegas 91 brought us an interesting co-feature fight between Bogdan Guskovan emerging value within the light heavyweightsand an already proven fighter, although perhaps in decline, Ryan Spann. In this combat, therefore, Spann acted as gatekeeper against the Uzbek fighter. The American, in any case, could not contain him and ended up knocked out.

He first round went to Spann who, after a couple of minutes of looking for the takedown, finally got it in the third. The American came to have the mount and from there he went to the back of his rival where well could finish the fight. Guskov, however, managed to survive: 10-9 for Spann.

The second round began with exchanges between both fighters. At first, Spann’s larger size would have made one think that his blows would weigh more, but that was not the case. The Uzbek, despite being a small light heavyweight, seems to have power in the hands. In fact, he only needed one upper to seriously damage the American and then finish by ground & pound.

After a somewhat disappointing start in UFC, in which he was submitted by Volkan Oezdemir, Guskov seems to be cementing a good streak within the division. In any case, it must be said that fighting against number 11 of the light heavyweights he found himself in serious problems when it went downand that is very good news for his future adversaries.

Beneil Dariush celebrates a victory

As for Spann, he is placed in a delicate position after three consecutive defeats, against Nikita Krylov, Anthony Smith and Guskov. The 32-year-old American has had his moments within the UFC by winning against fighters like Dominick Reyes but, with this defeat, he may be on a tightrope.
