Sheamus Makes Shocking Declaration About His Rivalry With Gunther

WWE Superstar Sheamus has made a surprising revelation about the future of his rivalry with Gunther.

Highlights

  • Sheamus believes his rivalry with Gunther is over after losing all three matches, showcasing honor in defeat.
  • Fans may be disappointed not to see more encounters between Sheamus and Gunther despite their intense matches.
  • While WWE rarely misses a chance to revisit popular matches, both men will be focused on separate paths for now.

Sheamus and Gunther reignited their classic rivalry this week as part of the WWE King of the Ring tournament, but fans shouldn’t expect to see anymore encounters between them.

Sheamus Believes That This Feud Is Over

Sheamus and Gunther have brought the best out of each other whenever they’ve shared the ring, particularly in singles matches. Their initial match for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE’s Clash At The Castle remains one of the best in WWE history, with the hard-hitting nature bringing a standing ovation from the WWE Universe.

While they also had an amazing triple threat match at WWE WrestleMania 39 featuring Drew McIntyre, it’s when they compete in singles action that people get most excited. The two men had another physical match on WWE SmackDown, and their encounter on WWE Raw this week was no different.

They hit hard and leave each other bruised and beaten by the end of it. But despite Sheamus’ best efforts, he’s not been able to defeat Gunther in any of their singles matches which is why he’s bringing an end to this rivalry. The news might disappoint some fans due to the high quality of their matches, but Sheamus is taking a moral victory from this rivalry.

What Is Next For Both Men?

While it’s inevitable that they will compete against each other again down the line, as WWE rarely misses a chance to go back to popular matches like this, the immediate future will see them apart.

After Gunther got the victory on WWE Raw he will be continuing in the King of the Ring tournament, facing either Kofi Kingston or Rey Mysterio in the next round as he attempts to win the crown.

For Sheamus, his future is slightly less clear as there’s no obvious storyline waiting in the wings for him. He only returned to in-ring action last month after a lengthy layoff due to an injury that almost forced him to retire. His comeback led to a lot of bodyshaming which has been brought up on television with Drew McIntyre poking fun at him. But with McIntyre currently injured and also busy feuding with CM Punk, it remains to be seen whether his issues with Sheamus turn into an official feud.
