Ryan Garcia has responded to reports of his failed drug test in the Devin Haney fight last month. In a series of social media posts, Garcia proclaims his innocence and points to an ashwagandha supplement.
As previously reported on The Sportster, in a VADA test linked to his fight against Haney, Garcia has been found positive for the banned substance Ostarine. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) detected Ostarine in Garcia’s A-sample, both on the day before and the day of his surprising victory. Moreover, the A-sample also showed traces of 19-norandrosterone, a metabolite of nandrolone, though this discovery is yet to be officially confirmed.

The Boxer Pushes Donald Trump Conspiracy Theory
Garcia shared a video in which he denied cheating and questioned why the test results came out after the fight with Haney. In the clip, the controversial boxer said he doesn’t know where to get steroids. Garcia said he believes the failed test came from an ashwagandha supplement.
He was also recently seen at a Donald Trump event and tried to link his failed drug test to forces trying to take him down, writing, “Hmm I’m seen with trump. And now I’m positive for steroids This is a straight attack. Crazy”
Garcia was backed by Haney’s bitter rival Gervonta Davis, who wrote on X, “They doing anything to take away the win from Ryan..if that’s the case BANNED EDDIE HEARN SILVER POON ASS!.”
Davis also floated Regis Prograis’ unsubstantiated claim that Haney rehydrated with an IV for their fight, which he lost by a wide decision.
Garcia’s victory was overshadowed by his failure to make weight prior to the fight. Weighing in at 143.2 pounds, Garcia exceeded the 140-pound limit set for his bout against Devin Haney by 3.2 pounds. Following the weigh-in, Garcia made no efforts to shed the excess weight.
Before the failed drug test, Haney experienced his inaugural professional defeat, succumbing to Garcia’s prowess as he was knocked down three times, ultimately resulting in a points loss. In a social media update following the defeat, Haney expressed his belief that a rematch should be arranged under fair conditions, with both fighters meeting at an agreed-upon weight.
