CRUSADERS vs REBELS in Christchurch, Friday 5.05pm kickoff AEST

The struggling Crusaders have received a double boost with the returns from injury of two All Blacks stars.

Captain Scott Barrett will start at lock after breaking his finger in round three while David Havili is on the bench after hurting his calf in round five.

The defending champion Crusaders are in last place and Havili defended under fire coach Rob Penney.

“He’s great. Huge leader for us,” Havili said.

“It’s tough to see the articles coming out about him, it’s frustrating as a playing group. It’s all of us, we’re all not performing and we’ve got to find a way this weekend.”

Prop Sam Talakai will again captain the Rebels as regular skipper Rob Leota makes his return from injury via the bench.

Lock Lukhan Salakaia-Loto is out with a foot injury that could sideline him for up to six weeks.

Wallabies star Mark Nawaqanitawase has been recalled to the Waratahs starting lineup after being dropped against the Crusaders.

That leaves Wallabies Jed Holloway and Langi Gleeson on the bench, with Ned Hanigan named to start at No.8.

The Chiefs have lost captain Luke Jacobson to injury with Kaylum Boshier to instead lead the team for the first time.

“He has gone about his work this season and does a lot of the unseen work both on and off the field,” Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan said.

The Brumbies have welcomed back Wallabies Allan Alaalatoa and Len Ikitau from injury following their record loss to the Blues.

Alaalatoa will start at prop in his first game since rupturing his Achilles tendon in the Bledisloe Cup last year but halfback Ryan Lonergan will continue to lead the side.

Ikitau will wear No.13 after recovering from a leg injury suffered in round four.

Hurricanes hooker Asafo Aumua will miss the rest of the regular season at least after suffering an MCL tear in his left knee.

Aumua has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks, meaning a return for the quarter-finals is a best case scenario.

“It’s great, we’re starting to get some depth back now,” Rodda said.

“Myself back from injury, everyone is back. It’s creating competition for positions and in any team, that’s what you need. It’s crucial to having a high performing tight five, especially in the second row.
